Norway Spruce - Red Tipped

A semi-dwarf, upright semi-open Norway Spruce which resembles the species very closely. However, young spring growth emerges deep scarlet red before maturing to reddish-brown and eventually turning the typical dark green. Very small needles. Pyramidal, grows 6′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. First propagated by Tage Lundell of Sweden, who received scions from the Botanical Garden of Gothenburg before 1973.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Adaptable to various soils. Prefers  slightly acidic soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed from spring to July.
