NATIVE – A very common, large, fast growing Pine. Blue-green soft needles are 3-4″ long and are borne in fascicles of 5. Grayish smooth bark when young, maturing to a grayish-brown rough rectangular plates with age. Grows 15′ high by 10′ wide in a 10 year period. Ontario’s official tree. Intolerant to salt!

Origin
Native to Eastern Canada and the USA.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils. Intolerant to salt.
Maintenance: Candling is done to new spring shoots before the needles fully emerge.
