Pinus densiflora ‘Low Glow’
Japanese Red Pine - Low Glow
A dwarf Japanese Red Pine that forms a low flat dense mound with horizontal branching. Short bright green needles can take on a yellow sheen in winter. Prominent tan-white buds. Grows 3′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Discovered as a seedling from a witch's broom by Sidney Waxman of Connecticut in 1985. Though to be a possible hybrid between Pinus densiflora and Pinus thunbergii.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Plant in a protected area out of the prevailing winds, as being exposed in winter winds can lead to desiccation.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Candling is done to new spring shoots before the needles fully emerge.
