A clumping Bamboo displaying black cherry colouration on its culms! Lighter in colouration when young, the culms age to almost black with age. Reddish-purple branches add to the effect along with its delicate foliage. Expect it to reach 7-8′ high on average, potentially 9′ high.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Collected seedling from Jiuzhaigou Park in northern Sichuan China by R. Willumeit.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.
Soil: Tolerant of most soils. Avoid bone-dry soils. They enjoy their old leaves being left on the ground as a natural mulch/fertilizer.
Maintenance: Remove old culms which do not leaf out by late spring.
Bamboo will only flower once in their lifetime, dying shortly after.
