Japanese Beech

A rarely seen species of Beech which is prized in the bonsai world! Small green leaves emerge with fine hairs, maturing to become glabrous. Leaves turn brown in fall and cling on for most of the winter. Its smooth grey bark matures to white with age. Slow but can reach 100′ in time.
