Chinese Flowering Dogwood - Satomi

A strong upright growing Chinese Flowering Dogwood. Light to deep pink (depending on spring temperature) bracts (flowers) are seen in the spring which are followed by large red berries in the fall. Deep green leaves turn purple-red during fall. Grows 15-20′ high by 15-18′ wide.

Parentage unknown. Originated from Japan. Named after a Japanese nurseryman's granddaughter.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done in the spring right after the flowers finish. Do not trim summer or afterwards as, you will be removing next springs flower buds.
