Snakebark Maple / David Maple

A more common type of Snakebark Maple. Large three-lobed leaves ressemble webbed feet. Foliage emerges green in the spring and lasts through summer before turning an orange-red fall colour. Yellowish May fls are borne on 2-3″ long racemes. Showy waxy bark, especially when young, is purplish-red to green striped with verticle white. Grows 10′ high by 7′ wide in a 10 year period.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
