NATIVAR – A stunning Flowering Dogwood which showcases extremely dark red bracts (flowers) in the early spring before leaves emerge. On top of all of this, new foliage emerges red maturing to green by summer and then dark burgundy in fall. Grows 25′ high by 20′ wide.

Origin

Hybrid seedling of two unnamed Cornus florida varieties. Found in 2011 by Ray & Cindy Jackson of Jackson Nursery, Tennessee.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done in the spring right after the flowers finish. Do not trim summer or afterwards as, you will be removing next springs flower buds.
