Azalea ‘Wakaebisu’
Azalea - Satsuki - Young Goddess
A very old variety of Satsuki Azalea. Blooms late-midseason with 2-2.5″ wide double peachy-pink slightly wavy flowers with a darker blotch and a light green throat. Abundant bloomer with a vigorous growth habit. Grows 1.5′ high by 3′ wide.

Origin
Cross between Azalea 'Ishiyama' and Azalea 'Nishikibotan'. Introduced in 1922 from Japan.
Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
