Azalea - Satsuki - Glory of the Purple Dragon
A fascinating Satsuki Azalea where young leaves emerge slender and rolled up along their edges before opening up. Solid purple 1.5-2″ wide flowers during late mid-season. Grows 2.5′ high by 3′ wide.

Origin
Cross between Azalea 'Reigyoku' and Azalea 'Rinpu'. Introduced in 1973 by Nobuo Uda of Japan.
Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
