Azalea ‘Meicho’
Azalea - Satsuki - Sunny Morning
An older vairety of Satsuki Azalea which has won an award. Large 3-4″ wide flowers during mid-season can vary from almost completely white to solid light-red with a white edge and a strong red blotch. Often they are white with varying degrees of red stripes and dots resembling that of a candy cane.

Origin
Seedling from Azalea 'Soko'. Introduced in 1957.
Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
