Azalea - Satsuki - Congratulatory Light

An award winning Satsuki Azalea with a vigorous growth rate responding well to prunning. Produces 2.5-3″ wide flowers during late season. Flowers can be variable, often being white with bright pink stripes and dots but can also be almost solid pink with a white base or entirely light pink. Grows 2.5-3′ high by 3-3.5′ wide.

Origin

Cross between Azalea 'Kotobuki' and Azalea 'Gyoten'. Introduced in 1969.

Special Notes

Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.

Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.

Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
