Japanese Maple - Fireball

A dwarf, congested Japanese Maple. Bright red spring foliage deepens to purple-red by summer before transforming back to bright fiery red in the fall. Similar to ‘Shaina’ but even smaller leaves and slower growing. Grows 4′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Found as a witch's broom by John Verkade in the 1980s.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
