White Fir - Candicans

A large White Fir which is considered to be the bluest of them all! Long powdery blue needles can be 2″+ of length. Staking maybe needed when young to encourage the leader initially. As well, young plants are a bit open until they fill in to become nice and dense. Grows 10′ high by 5′ wide in a 10 year period.

Parentage unknown. Seedling selected by the Arboretum National des Barres, France in 1929.

Special Notes

Exposure: Prefers full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Prefers acidic, moist but well draining workable soil. Dislikes extremes such as wet or bone-dry soils.

Maintenance: Selective trimming only when needed.
