Turkish Fir - Franke

A dwarf Turkish Fir which forms an irregular mound of short dark green needles. As it matures, the top branches become exposed giving an arhitectural appearance. Grows 1′ high by 2′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Found as a witch's broom at a Christmas Tree Farm in Oregon by Ken Franke before 1996. Named after the farm's owner Barney Douglass.

Special Notes

Exposure: Prefers full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Prefers acidic, moist but well draining workable soil. Dislikes extremes such as wet or bone-dry soils.

Maintenance: Selective trimming only when needed.
