NATIVAR – A dwarf Canadian Hemlock. Forms a bushy globe of dark green foliage. New growth emerges with white tips giving the appearance of tiny stars covering the plant. Grows 20″ high and wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Found growing in the wild in New Hampshire by Robert Clark before 1970. Introduced by Watnong Nursery of New Jersey in 1970.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun to Full Shade.

Soil: Prefers moist, well draining, acidic soils. Dislikes heavy compacted clay and dry soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed from spring to July.
