One of the hardiest clumping Bamboo! Dark purplish culms are covered with a bluish-white powder when young. Culms arch outwards to give a fountain like appearance. Prefers protection from the hot afternoon sun. Expect it to reach 10-12′ high once established. Natively 15′ high.

Native to Szechwan, China.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun.

Soil: Tolerant of most soils. Avoid bone-dry soils. They enjoy their old leaves being left on the ground as a natural mulch/fertilizer.

Maintenance: Remove old culms which do not leaf out by late spring.

Bamboo will only flower once in their lifetime, dying shortly after.
