Taxodium ascendens ‘Morris’

Pond Cypress - Debonair®

A large growing Pond Cypress with upright symmetrical branching. Thread-like foliage emerges bright green darkening a bit with time and turning a stunning coppery-bronze colour in the fall before shedding. This variety is also noted to being more resistant to branch breakage from wind and ice as well as being more cold-hardy than the species. Grows 12′ high by 6′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Originated from a scion taken from the a Pond Cypress (Taxodium ascendens) at the Morris Arboretum, Pennsylvania in the mid-1960s. Introduced by Earl Cully and Heritage Trees both of Illinois.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Adaptable to various soils. Prefers slightly acidic soils. Moisture tolerant.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed from spring to July.
