A large growing Pine but not the fastest growing with a semi-open irregular pyamidal habit. Known for its very showy bark which exfoliates and flakes when young. Younger bark is orange-red and matures to a scaly greyish-bown. Stiff blue-grey-green needles are born in fascicles of 2 and are 1-2″ long. Grows ~10′ high by 8′ wide in a 10 year period.
