A very old dwarf Japanese White Pine. Forms a dense broad pyramidal habit of bright blue-green needles compressed to its shoots. Grows 3′ high by 2.5′ wide in a 10 year period.

Parentage unknown. Discovered on Miyajima Island, Japan over 400 years ago. First listed by Mayr in 1890.

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Candling is done to new spring shoots before the needles fully emerge.
