This large growing, spreading Bamboo has the strongest culms of all timber Bamboo. Valued for its large straight thick-walled culms. Due to its strength and size, it is the most preferred Bamboo for building in Japan. Culms are bright green. Expect it to reach 15-18′ high once established. Natively, 60’+ high with a culm diameter of up to 6″.

Native to China.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.
Soil: Tolerant of most soils. Avoid bone-dry soils. They enjoy their old leaves being left on the ground as a natural mulch/fertilizer.
Maintenance: Remove old culms which do not leaf out by late spring.
