
Liquidambar styraciflua
Sweetgum - American
A lovely large sized tree forming a round crown with age. Leaves are dark green and are reminiscent of maple leaves. Known for its outstanding fall colour of shades of yellow, purple, orange and red! Seed pods, known as “gum balls” are brown, large marble sized with spikes and often cling on for winter interest. Grows 65′ high by 60′ wide.

Origin
Native to Eastern USA and Mexico.

Called “Sweet Gum” due to its aromatic gum which extrudes from wounds.
