Fagus sylvatica ‘Black Swan’
European Beech - Black Swan
A weeping European Beech. Very dark purple leaves. Staking when young is recommended but will gain leader to grow upright on its own. Similar to ‘Purple Fountain’ but darker leaves and a bit slower, yet wider growing with a more irregular habit. Grows 50′ high by 18′ wide.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Selected Mr. van den Oever of the Netherlands in 1984.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.
Soil: Prefers moist, well draining soils. Dislikes heavy compacted clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed from spring to early August.
