Chinese Flowering Dogwood - Summer Stars

A late blooming Chinese Flowering Dogwood! Large creamy-white bracts (flowers) appear during late June and last through July. Pinkish-red fruit follows in the fall, up to 1″ wide. Dark green foliage transitions to shades of purples and reds during the fall. Grows 20′ high and wide.

Seedling Cornus kousa var. chinensis found by Peter E. Costich of New York.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done in the spring right after the flowers finish. Do not trim summer or afterwards as, you will be removing next springs flower buds.
