Chinese Flowering Dogwood - Samaritan

A variegated Chinese Flowering Dogwood. Produces long-lasting creamy-white bracts (flowers) in spring. Wavy-edged foliage emerges dark green with a bright white border often with a hint of pink in spring. During fall, the white borders change to tones of pink and red with the green centers lightening up. On top of this, showy red strawberry like fruits are also seen in fall. Grows 20′-25′ high by 15′-20′ wide.

Parentage unknown. Introduced by Lake Country Nursery, Ohio in 2011.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done in the spring right after the flowers finish. Do not trim summer or afterwards as, you will be removing next springs flower buds.
