Chinese Flowering Dogwood - China Girl

An improved selection of Chinese Flowering Dogwood, denoted by its earlier flowering time. Very floriferous in producing large pure white bracts (flowers) which give way to bright red strawberry like fruits in fall. Dark green leaves turn orange and red in fall. Grows 18-20′ high and wide.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Cultivated since the 1910s. Introduced by Proefstation voor de Boomkwekerij of the Netherlands in 1978.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done in the spring right after the flowers finish. Do not trim summer or afterwards as, you will be removing next springs flower buds.
