Chamaecyparis obtusa

A large growing conifer. Scale-like dark-green foliage drapes on branches with white markings underneath. Reddish-brown bark matures to thin peeling strips which are spongy to the touch. Grows 10′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period.

Native to central Japan.

Soil: Tolerant of various well draining soils, preferring slightly acidic.
