Eastern Redbud - Ruby Falls
NATIVAR – A weeping Eastern Redbud with burgundy foliage. Profuse pea-like dark rose flowers appear early spring on bare weeping stems before foliage. Leaves emerge maroon-red fading to burgundy and finally a dark green by summer. Fall colour is shades of yellow. Grows 6-8′ high by 5-6′ wide.

Origin
Hybrid seedling of Cercis canadensis 'Covey' (Lavender Twist) and Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy'. Selected by Dennis James Werner and Layne Karlton Snelling of North Carolina in 2001.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun. Shelter from winter winds.
Soil: Prefers moist, well draining soils. Dislikes heavy compacted clay or very sandy dry soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning to shape right after flowering. Remove dead wood in early spring.
