Azalea ‘Hoshun’
Azalea - Satsuki - Abundant Spring
A Satsuki Azalea with a never ending colour explosion!. Single, 2″ medium flowers are a bit wavy and can be completely red or pinkish-purple with dark blotches and irregular white margins or even reddish-purple with pinkish-purple stripes and sporadic variegation including yellow-green and red markings. Blooms late May into June. A dense, low-spreading habit.

Origin
Cross between Azalea 'Eiko' and Azalea 'Suisen'. Introduced before 1979.
Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
