Japanese Maple - Moonfire
A large growing Japanese Maple. Medium to large leaves emerge almost black-red, transitioning to bright purple-red by summer. This colouration last longer than the similar ‘Bloodgood’. Foliage transitions to a stunning crimson-red in fall. Grows 10′ high by 9′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Seedling of Acer palmatum f. atropurpureum. Introduced by Richard P. Wolff of Red Maple Nursery, Pennsylvania in 1974.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
