
Acer palmatum ‘Korean Gem’
Japanese Maple - Korean Gem
An older variety of Japanese Maple with medium sized leaves. New spring leaves emerge light green and darken by summer. Fall foliage is a nice blend of yellow, orange and red. This variety also features dark red bark. Grows 8-10′ high and wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Parentage unknown. First described by Takenoshin Nakai in 1914. Best example at Sir Harold Hillier Arboretum & Gardens, England where many clones have originated from.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
