Japanese Maple - Johnnie's Pink

A Japanese Maple featuring hawthorn-like leaves. New leaves emerge bright pink and transition to bronzy-red by late spring/early summer, eventually fade to bronzy-green. During the fall, the foliage changes to red. Grows 6-8′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Introduced by Harold Johnson of Tallassee, Alabama. Named after his wife.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
