Acer palmatum ‘Diana’

Japanese Maple - Diana

A unique dwarf Japanese Maple with small deeply divided leaves having coarsely toothed margins and tufts of brown undersurface hairs along the vein-axils. New leaves emerge light yellow-green in the spring with a bronzy-pink margin and fade to green by summer. During the fall, the leaves change to crimson and orange. Grows 4-6′ high by 3-4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Found and introduced by Dick Van der Maat Nursery in Boskoop, Netherlands and named after his daughter.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
