Azalea - Golden Lights
Part of the Northern Lights Series. A deciduous Azalea whose orangy buds open to fragrant golden yellow flowers with hints of orange. Flowering during late May. Mildew resistant green leaves transition to red colourations during fall. Grows 4′-6′ high and wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Hybrid seedling of an unknown Azalea atlanticum (hybrid) and Azalea 'Exbury Red'. Bred in 1975 and named by Dr. Harold Pellet and Susan Moe of the University of Minnesota.
Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
The Northern Lights series of Azaleas were bred at the University of Minnesota and are renowned for there extreme flower bud hardiness.
