Japanese Maple - Peve Multicolor

A stunning, heavily variegated Japanese Maple! Spring foliage emerges a bright yellow with pink margins and tips. Foliage changes to almost completely creamy-white with green reticulation giving it a sand dusting appearance while maintaining its pinkish margins. By summer the foliage fades to a more greenish tone losing its borders. Fall foliage is bright orange and yellow. Grows 6-8′ high by 3-4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Parentage unknown. Introduced by Piet Vergeldt of The Netherlands.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August. If an odd shoot is seen as a straight green it is recommend to trim it out as this can lead to total reversion of the plant.

Group: Matsumurae

Variegation is dependent on environmental conditions. Some years the plant can be heavily variegated and the next it could appear almost entirely green or somewhere in between.
