Japanese Maple - Small Red Bark
A semi-dwarf version of the classic Coral Bark Japanese Maple ‘Sango kaku’! Spring leaves emerge yellow-green with bright red shoots. The foliage transitions to a light green by summer and to a yellowish-red fall colour. Of course the main feature, are the red stems which are extra showy during the cooler winter months. Grows 6′ high and wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Introduced by Del's Japanese Maple Nursery, Oregon.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Must be planted in a well protected area out of the prevailing winter winds.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
