Acer buergerianum ‘Koshi Miyasama’
Trident Maple - Koshi miyasama
Leaf lobes of this Trident Maple are less divided than the species and most other varieties, almost looking like a webbed foot. The key feature of this variety is its blood-red new shoots! New spring foliage emerges pinkish-red with yellow-green main vein. The leaves mature to a dark green by summer but new foliage continue to push with the initial scarlet-red colouration. Fall colour is an intense fiery-red. Vigorous, grows 10′ high by 8′ wide in a 10 year period.
