
Abies balsamea ‘Piccolo’
Balsam Fir - Small
NATIVAR – A very dwarf Balsam Fir with a uniform globe shape. Dark green needles on short branches which have a slight twist. Prominent brown buds adds a nice contrast. A more refined version of ‘Nana’. Grows 15″ high by 1.5′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Found as a witch's broom on Abies balsamea 'Nana' in 1982. Introduced by Erwin Carstens Nursery, Germany.
Special Notes
Exposure: Prefers full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Prefers acidic, moist but well draining workable soil. Dislikes extremes such as wet or bone-dry soils.
Maintenance: Selective trimming only when needed.
