A spreading Bamboo with rigidly upright culms. At the bottom of the culms are distinctive attractive tortoise shell nodes. The stout green culms turn soft yellow in very strong light. Expect it to reach 15-18′ high once established. Natively, 30’+ with a culm diameter of 1 1/4″.

Origin
Native to Fujian and Zhejiang provinces in China.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.
Soil: Tolerant of most soils. Avoid bone-dry soils. They enjoy their old leaves being left on the ground as a natural mulch/fertilizer.
Maintenance: Remove old culms which do not leaf out by late spring.
