Hamamelis vernalis ‘Girard Purple’
Witch Hazel - Ozark - Girard Purple
A medium sized Witch Hazel which features fragrant, crinkled purplish flowers with a purple-maroon calyx. Flowers are born mid-to-late winter. Leaves emerge a light green in spring and mature darker green by summer before changing to orange and red shades in the fall. Grows 10′ high by 8′ wide.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Seedling selected by Girard Nurseries of Ohio in 1978.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.
Soil: Tolerant of various soils but prefers a well draining one, slightly acidic.
Maintenance: Selective trimming in spring right after the flowers have finished. Do not trim in fall, as flower buds have already been set.
