NATIVAR – A variegated Flowering Dogwood showcasing deep green leaves with thick yellow borders. These leaves turn brilliant carmine red during fall. White bracts (flowers) are seen early spring before the leaves emerge. Produces red berries in the fall. Grows 15′-20′ high and wide.

Origin

Originated as a mutation found on Cornus florida stump which was run over by a truck and broken. Found by Mr. Armond Marzilli of Ohio in 1964.

Cornus florida 'Marzelli'

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done in the spring right after the flowers finish. Do not trim summer or afterwards as, you will be removing next springs flower buds.
