Giant Sequoia - Weeping

An irregular weeping Giant Sequoia. Forms an upright habit with a dominant leader and drooping side branches. However, the leader does not necessarily grow straight upright rather meanders all over the place making no two trees the same in appearance. On average grows 12′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period but width can vary greatly.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Seedling selected at Lalande Nursery of France in 1863.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Must be planted in a well protected area out of the prevailing winter winds.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed from spring to July.
