Japanese Umbrella Pine - Wintergreen
A semi-dwarf Japanese Umbrella Pine. Forms a dense cone shape of very rich bright green needles which holds their colour throughout winter. Grows 6′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Seedling selected by Sidney Waxman of the University of Connecticut in 1960.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Must be planted in a well protected area out of the prevailing winter winds.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Candling is done to new spring shoots before the needles fully emerge.
