Part of the Royal Family series. An elepidote, medium growing Rhododendron. 2 1/2″ flowers are wavy and apple-blossom pink in colour with greenish spotting. Flowers fade to white as they mature and are born in trusses of 15. Olive-green foliage with new leaves showcasing dark orangey-brown indumentum and silvery tomentum. Dense and compact, growing 3′ high and wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Hybrid seedling Rhododendron 'King Tut' and Rhododendron degronianum ssp yakushimanum 'Koichiro Wada'. Introduced by Anthony M. Shammarello of Ohio in 1977.

Special Notes

Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.

Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.

Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
