Rhododendron ‘Holden’s Fuchsia’
Rhododendron - Holden's™ Fuchsia
An elepidote, medium growing Rhododendron bred to withstand Phytophthora cinnamomi which causes root rot. Brilliant fuschia coloured flowers are ~1 3/4″ wide and are born in trusses of 12 flowers. Blooms late May. Compact, grows 4′ high and wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Hybrid seedling of Rhododendron 'Rio' and Rhododendron 'Rocket'. Bred in 1996 and introduced by the Holden Arboretum in Ohio.

Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
