Quercus undulata ‘Mesa de Maya’
Wavyleaved Oak - Mesa de Maya
A rather interesting Oak variety. Small but long bluish-grey leaves look closer to that of a Holly leaf than a regular Oak with barely any lobes. Its colouration lasts into the fall before turning a dull brown. Apparently a heavy fruiter. Tolerant of dry, alkaline and clay soils. Grows 25′ high by 20′ wide.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Chance seedling propagated by James Bowland at the Denver Botanic Garden, Denver, Colorado, in the 1970s.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Adaptable to various soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed from spring to July.
Generally believed to be a hybrid of Quercus gambelii x Quercus grisea x Quercus turbinella.
