Pinus strobiformis
Southwestern White Pine
A large growing Pine which shares similar characteristics to the Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus). Soft long needles (3-6″) are borne in fascicles of 5 and are blue-green. Grayish smooth bark when young, maturing to grayish-brown rough rectangular plates with age. Grows 15′ high by 10′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Native to Southern USA and Mexico.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils. Intolerant to salt.
Maintenance: Candling is done to new spring shoots before the needles fully emerge.
