Witch Hazel - Hybrid - Diane

A classic small growing Witch Hazel with brilliant coppery-red flowers. Midly fragrant flowers are born on stems with persistent leaves in late winter and have maroon calyx. Green foliage turns stunning shades of yellow, orange and red during the fall. A somewhat open habit, growing to 9′ high and wide.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Introduced by the De Belder family of Belgium at the Kalmthout Arboretum in 1969. Named after their daughter Diane.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Tolerant of various soils but prefers a well draining one, slightly acidic.

Maintenance: Selective trimming in spring right after the flowers have finished. Do not trim in fall, as flower buds have already been set.
