Chinese Flowering Dogwood - Aiden's Mint Frost

A unique Chinese Flowering Dogwood displaying reticulated variegation. Foliage emerges chartreuse in spring with dark green veins. Leaves transition to a medium green with a light yellow almost white sheen on top giving it a speckling effect. Fall foliage brings shades of pastel pink initially before darkening. White 3-5″ wide bracts (flowers) appear late spring and are followed by 1″ stawberry red fruit in the fall. A bit more upright than other varieties, growing 20′ high by 12′ wide.

Seedling of Cornus kousa 'Autumn Rose', selected by Gary Handy of Oregon, named after his grandson.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done in the spring right after the flowers finish. Do not trim summer or afterwards as, you will be removing next springs flower buds.
