NATIVAR – An improved selection of the native Flowering Dogwood. Noted for its excellent deep pink to red bracts (flowers) in early spring before foliage emerges. New growth emerges green with a slight red tinge and matures to fully dark green by summer before changing to red in fall coupled with red berries. Grows 18′ high and wide.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done in the spring right after the flowers finish. Do not trim summer or afterwards as, you will be removing next springs flower buds.
